HAIKU POEMS ON CHILDREN BY ROSALIENE BACCHUS

The inspirational story The Haiku Master by Takiko Morimoto (USA, 2014) set me on the path to writing Haiku poetry.
The featured poems were written during the period 2011 to 2017.

STREET CHILDREN

From parched lands they come

hungry faces full of hope.

City streets their home.

SAVE OUR CHILDREN

Sheltered in the womb

Years of loving care to bloom

Lost with one gunshot.

CHILDHOOD LOST

Amidst the rubble

broken toys, stench of the dead.

Childhood lost in war.

OVER THE BORDER

Nine years old, freed to

try again to join his parents

over the border.

WHERE WILL CHILDREN PLAY

Terror rains from the sky

Cities turned to rubble.

Where will children play?

FRACTURED

Women with children

no sacrifice too great.

Fractured immigrant families.
